Welcome

Hello, I’m Janet. I’m glad you’re here.

As of March, 2024, I have a few OHP Care Oregon HealthShare or private pay openings in my schedule. Feel free to reach out to me.

I offer telehealth and in-person appointments or a mix of the two, depending on your preferences and what might work best for us together. If you are hoping for support with a little human (ages 6 or under), in-person tends to be best. No matter how we meet, I hope to be someone who can listen to you, hear you and accept you as you are right now- I hope to “see” you as fully as is possible- and support your journey. That’s how I think of counseling.

So often in our every day lives the people around us don’t know how to help or what to do when we need them the most. It can be even harder after significant life events because personal and social needs seem to collide and compound any previous challenges. Friends or family might try to distract us, cheerlead us to feel better, or worse…. give us advice and tell us what we “should” do (“You should just….”) or how we shouldn’t feel (“You shouldn’t feel so bad about that because….”). My least favorite is, “Don’t cry….”

Seeking support automatically makes you strong. Often times reaching for counseling help is seen by those closest to us as weak: I know it as a strength. Humans are meant to live in supportive communities, not as struggling individuals that must help themselves in order to survive. Each of us is greatly affected by the world around us and the people we are in relationship to- family, friends, colleagues, peers, everyone. We are all humans, afflicted by the common traits of humanity. Our experiences are uniquely our own and deserve support.

Everyone is welcome here.

You might have realized that, “Man, I feel so disconnected…..” from the community, a spouse, a friend, a family member (or two or three….), from society. You might be realizing you’ve “lost” who you are. You might not know who can support you in the current political and pandemic climate (it is scary all around). You might be wondering if you’ll ever be content (much less happy).

Welcome. You’re in a good place here.

There are still many ways to bridge the connection(s) you seek or unknowingly need or want, and I hope to support you as a human. I am also a human who happens to be a counselor, yoga teacher, and yoga teacher:counselor combo who appreciates the human you have become and how you got to where you are now.
